Euronews spoke at Berlin’s ITB to Haitham Al Ghassani, Assistent Director General of Tourism Promotion, about how the country tries to capitalize on its authenticity and diversity.

When we promote Oman we always focus on three elements. One, it is very safe and secure. Two, it is more authentic; we promote the culture and the heritage side of Oman. Third, we promote the nature that Oman has and the diversity of the nature in Oman.

In 2014 we had two million tourists who came to Oman. 2015 we had 2.4 million tourists in the country. From Europe, the main markets are the UK, then the German market, third is the French market. We are trying to focus on Europe and we of course focus GCC countries and now we are trying to move also to the Asian market, we recently finished to evaluate the US market, the Chinese market, and the Spanish market. We are trying to focus more on new destinations for people coming to Oman.
