Latvia’s Mariss Jansons took up the baton for the third time for the annual New Year gala concert from Vienna.

The United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was in the audience. He heard the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra play a special piece to mark the 70th anniversary of the UN in 2015.
It is the 75th staging of the concert which was shown live in more than 90 countries. More than 50 million people tuned into the broadcast which makes the concert the most prominent in the world.
