Hundreds of Athletic Bilbao fans gathered near the San Mames Stadium on Monday night to celebrate their club’s stunning victory over Barcelona to lift the Spanish Super Cup.

The side’s 5-1 aggregate win over the more fancied Catalans led to Bilbao lifting their first piece of silverware since a Copa del Rey and La Liga double back in 1984.
The two teams will resume hostilities again on Sunday, but this time to kick off the La Liga season at the San Mamés in Bilbao.
