A 91-year-old Australian man has been charged with smuggling over a million euros worth of cocaine hidden in soap.

Dr Victor Twartz said he had been handed a bag containing gifts shortly before boarding a flight to Sydney from New Delhi after meeting people he had befriended online.

He now faces a potential life sentence.
