The United Nations cultural agency UNESCO has conferred cherished World Heritage status on the “hillsides, houses and cellars” of France’s famous Champagne region.

Wine producers in Burgundy have also had vineyards there added to the list.

The prestigious label should provide a big, commercial boost.
