Yeldos Smetov of Kazakhstan took gold by an ippon in the men’s under-60kg category when he beat his compatriot Aibek Ishmev at the Budapest Judo

Yeldos Smetov of Kazakhstan took gold by an ippon in the men’s under-60kg category when he beat his compatriot Aibek Ishmev at the Budapest Judo Grand Prix.

In the under-66kg Zhansay Smagulov held off Sebastian Seidl of Germany.

While Miklos Ungvari of Hungary beat
Slovakia’s Rok Draksic in the under-73kg section.

Ungvari said: If somebody (like me) competes at home, the audience wins almost the one-third of the match, so we should add just the rest with my coach.

In the Womens under-48 kg final Beijing 2008 Olympic bronze medallist Paula Pareto of Argentina dispatched 19-year-old Funa Tonaki of Japan to win gold.

Former world bronze medallist Mareen Kraeh defeated her German compatriot Maria Ertl in the under-52kg category.

While Asian Championships silver medallist Chen-Ling Lien of Taiwan saw off Germany’s Viola Waechter to win her country’s first International Judo Federation gold medal in the under-57kg.
