America’s Serena Williams produced a stunning performance to edge out Lucie Safarova in the French Open final.
The 13th seed, playing her first Grand Slam showpiece match, came from behind to win the second set before crumbling in the decider.
Williams, ranked number one, eventually prevailed 6-3 6-7 6-2 in just over two hours en route to a third Roland-Garros triumph and her 20th grand slam title.
This win sees her become the first woman to win consecutive U.S. Open, Australian Open, and French Open crowns since Monica Seles in 1992.
