US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Kenya to offer help in countering al Shabaab militants who have staged deadly attacks there and in Somalia.

But before getting down to business he visited an elephant orphanage in Nairobi national park, where keepers briefed him on how they care for abandoned animals.

One young creature proved irresistible for America’s top diplomat, providing perfect “selfie” material – even as the almost too-friendly elephant’s trunk went exploring.
