Tanguy Pepiot will remember this for a while to come. The steeplechase runner from the University of Oregon had a healthy lead over his rival Meron Simon from the University of Washington at the Pepsi Invitational race.

He had so much time on his hands he decided to wave his arms to gee up the crowd and celebrate his victory.

While he waved, the home crowd tried to warn Pepiot that his rival was fast approaching but the warning came too late.

As he slowed Simon powered past him to take victory.
