The German Bundesliga champions say he was injured while playing for Austria in their 1-1 draw against Bosnia on Tuesday.

Alaba, 22, has expressed hope of being back in the team before the end of the season, but he will miss Bayern’s Champions League quarter-final against Porto later this month.

Bayern, who are also missing Dutch forward Arjen Robben through injury, are currently top of the Bundesliga with eight games left and are through to the German Cup last eight.
