Austrian Marcel Hirscher’s fourth place in Meribel was enough to ensure he could not be beaten to this year’s Giant Slalom Crystal Globe.

The result means the new World Cup champion has also won the Overall title, too.

Kjetil Jansrud could have denied him his fourth Overall title in the season-closing Slalom, but the speed specialist has decided he stood little chance and pulled out. He battled to 11th place.

In the event the race was won by Jansrud’s teammate and fellow Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen , leaving his best to the last and looking silky and composed on his way to his first world cup season win.
