Thailand’s Amnat Ruenroeng overcame a nervous start to edge out China’s Shiming Zou with a unanimous points victory in their IBF flyweight title clash in Macau on Saturday.

The undefeated sensation was made to battle hard throughout the bout and was knocked down in the second round before stepping it up a gear, handing China’s double Olympic gold medallist his first professional defeat.

The fight was a scrappy affair as both boxers struggled to land clean shots in the opening half of the contest. However Ruenroeng was more aggressive than his opponent as the fight wore on and prevented him from landing any flurries while launching quick counter-attacks, en route to 15th career win.
