Libya’s warring factions held UN-backed peace talks in Morocco with the aim to end the conflict between the two rival governments which many fear could spiral into full-blown civil war.

The meeting came as air strikes between the rival forces intensified on Thursday.

Western officials see the talks as a way to form a unity government to end the fighting, though previous attempts have so far failed.
