Norway’s Anders Fannemel cleared 251.5 metres to break the ski jumping world record for the second time in as many days in Vikersund.

The 23-year-old produced an extraordinary gravity-defying feat to beat the previous mark of 250 metres set by Peter Prevc on the same slope.

Fannemel only leapt 202 metres on his second attempt and eventually had to settle for second place behind Germany’s Severin Freund with Johann Andre Forfang completing the podium.

This win sees Freund move into third place in the overall standings, 103 points behind current leader Prevc.
