Wolfsburg’s Junior Malanda has been killed in a car accident near the German city of Bielefeld on Saturday.

The 20-year-old, who was regarded as one of the Bundesliga’s rising stars, was thought to be on his way to a South African training camp to meet with teammates.

The Belgium Under-21 midfielder, who had been linked with a move to Fulham and Crystal Palace, had made 15 appearances for the German club this season.
