Journalists, cartoonists and police officers are killed in what is thought to be the worst militant attack on French soil in decades

Late Wednesday morning in Paris and hooded gunmen entered the offices of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

Armed with Kalashnikovs they killed 12 people.

Amateur video showed two of the attackers – there was also a driver.

Experts say the men may have been trained killers going by the professional way they held their weapons.

They also apparently timed their attack for when the most people were in the office – the weekly editorial meeting.

During the attack another was heard to shout ‘Allahu Akbar!’ – ‘God is great!’

As shocked survivors were evacuated French police launched a man hunt and brought in about 800 officers to shore up security in the capital

The car the gunmen had made their escape in – a black Citroen – was later found abandoned in the . north east of Paris in which police are believed to have found an identity card.
