Romania’s Simona Gherman celebrated gold in the women’s Epee Individual at the The Doha Grand Prix in Qatar.
The 2012 European champion fell behind early to Erika Kirpu of Estonia who got the first point.
But it was the first and last time in the match at the Gate Shopping Mall complex Gherman had to play catch-up.
After the first three minute period The Romanian was 3-2 up and stretched that lead to 9-6 heading into the third and final period.
Gherman controlled the encounter all the way to the end and eventually enjoyed a comfortable 15-10 victory.
Bianca Del Carretto of Italy and world number one Emese Szasz of Hungary jointly took bronze
