The first day of the Doha Grand Prix in Qatar threw up a Swiss-French final in the men’s epee event. Daniel Jerent took the gold defeating Peer Borsky.
Jerent had won comfortably in his semi-final with a difference of seven points but the contest with Borsky was much closer. The Swiss had led early on taking the first point, the contest went to 5-5 before Jerent raced ahead taking a 12-8 lead, completing the victory 15-8.
Gauthier Grumiere and Enrico Garozzo took the bronze medals for France and Italy.
