Russian foil fencer Alex Cheremisinov held his nerve to outclass fellow countryman Renal Ganeev in the final of the Turin Grand Prix on Sunday.
The 29-year-old, who clinched the World Fencing Championships in Kazan, edged out Valerio Aspromonte in the semi-finals before carrying his momentum into the showpiece match.
After a relatively slow start to the contest, Cheremisinov stepped it up a gear to take the lead and never looked back, eventually sealing a convincing 15-11 win at the Palaruffini arena.
