Turkish giants Galatasaray have confirmed the sacking of head coach Cesare Prandelli following the side’s exit from the Champions League.

Wesley Sneijder’s team-mates suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Anderlecht on Wednesday, a result that eliminated the team from Europe’s elite club competition and meant they also failed to qualify for the Europa League.

Prandelli resigned as Italy manager after they failed to get past the group stage at this year’s World Cup in Brazil. Galatasaray announced a few weeks later that he would be replacing compatriot Roberto Mancini, who left the club after less than a season in charge.
