After weeks of speculation, former Brazil goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni has decided to extend his contract with Sao Paulo despite announcing earlier this year that he would end his career in December.
The 41-year-old will stay until August 2015 with an option to extend the deal if the club secures the Copa Libertadores.
Ceni, a keen free-kick and penalty taker, has scored more than 100 goals during his illustrious career and just broke Ryan Giggs’ record for most wins at a single club after playing in São Paulo’s 3-0 win over Goiás in October.
