Germany beat Spain in the two nations’ first encounter since the 2010 world cup semi-final following a friendly match in Vigo on Tuesday night.

In a tight affair Toni Kroos scored the winner on 89 minutes to hand the world cup champions their third win from their past six internationals.

Elsewhere and in another close encounter Portugal beat World Cup runners-up Argentina one nil at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Raphael Guerreiro scored three minutes into stoppage time for his nation’s first win over the South Americans in 42 years.

Elsewhere Serbia beat Greece 2-0, a day after both nations saw their coaches leave their jobs.

Ukraine and Lithuania played out a goalless stalemate as Russia downed Hungary 2-1.

Captain Wayne Rooney scored twice to help England beat Scotland 3-1 at Celtic Park – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the opener for Roy Hodgson’s men. There were also wins for Brazil, Italy, Iran and France.
