In this edition of our special “Learning World” series we take a look at three countries.

Migrants to China’s ever-expanding cities are denied state education, so they are doing it for themselves. Free schools are catering to this thirst for knowledge.

The Democratic Republic of Congo’s Kinshasa sucks the life out of the rural areas around it. Those who fail in the big city end up on the streets, but one school is trying to teach new skills that will enable children to return home and rejuvenate their rural communities.

Finally in Ecuador the Millennium schools are on a mission; to take advanced technology deep into the countryside to help combat poverty, bad nutrition, and rural flight.
