Elephants make a splash ahead of Thai New Year

<p>Elephants in Thailand’s ancient capital of Ayutthaya sprayed water from their trunks at people on Tuesday (April 11), ahead of the start of Thailand’s traditional New Year.</p> <p>Thailand celebrates the annual water festival, which has become a major tourist attraction, from April 13 to 15.</p> <p>The Songkran festival, which marks Thai New Year, is often referred to as the world’s biggest water fight – a time when revelers splash water on each other. Everyone, young and old, is fair game.</p>
