Elephants in Thailand’s ancient capital of Ayutthaya sprayed water from their trunks at people on Tuesday (April 11), ahead of the start of Thailand’s traditional New Year.
Thailand celebrates the annual water festival, which has become a major tourist attraction, from April 13 to 15.
The Songkran festival, which marks Thai New Year, is often referred to as the world’s biggest water fight – a time when revelers splash water on each other. Everyone, young and old, is fair game.
