The inaugural Bukhara Biennial, themed “Recipes for Broken Hearts”, brings over 200 artists from 40 countries to the Silk Road city, blending art, healing and heritage in Uzbekistan.
The Bukhara Biennial has turned the Silk Road city into a stage for art, reflection and dialogue.
Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the presidential administration in Uzbekistan, described it as a continuation of Bukhara’s historic role as a meeting point of ideas. Gayane Umerova, chair of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, underlined its mix of contemporary art, cuisine and hospitality.
More than 200 artists from 40 countries are taking part. Their work sits alongside Uzbekistan’s own traditions, from music to craftsmanship, creating an experience that engages both body and mind while reintroducing Bukhara to the world.
