EU Commission 'broke own rules' in Selmayr appointment

Selmayr-gate fallout continues - the EU ombudsman investigating the appointment of Martin Selmayr to the highest ranking official in the European Commission's response presented no new information and did not alter the inquiry findings.

"Mr Selmayr's appointment did not follow EU law, and did not follow the Commission's own rules," the European Ombudsman Emily O Reilly has maintained, after the Commission itself rejected the findings.
