Donald Trump has named Lt Gen Herbert Raymond McMaster as his national security adviser.
He replaces Lt Gen Michael Flynn who was fired after just three weeks and three days in the job after misleading Vice President Mike Pence over his Russian contacts.
McMaster is a man used to questioning authority he served in the Iraq and Gulf War and fought corruption in Afghanistan.
He was vehemently opposed to the Vietnam War explained in his book ‘Dereliction of Duty.’
