A massive landslide caused by severe weather has forced the cancellation of Wednesday’s ninth stage of the Dakar Rally in Argentina.

Heavy floods also hampered the eighth stage of the Dakar Rally in Jujuy and Salta on Tuesday. The torrential rains have set off mudslides and blocked off roads.

Local media have reported that many homes have been damaged and at least two people have been killed.

The Dakar track was cut due to the flooding and mudslides from 892 km originally to just over 400 km.

France’s Sebastien Loeb leads the car category for Peugeot while British rider Sam Sunderland is leading in the motorcycle standings.
