Greek infrastructure is buckling under the pressure of dealing with the thousands of people arriving on their shores.

The UN’s refugee agency said that the situation on Greece’s islands near to Turkey is “total chaos” and called for leadership.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is calling on the EU to help deal with the influx.

“If this is not dealt with at a European level and there is no substantial help, you all understand that the situation is very hard to resolve.”

With the Greek economy falling into recession again, the government says it cannot handle the pressure of receiving thousands of refugees who come to Europe fleeing conflicts in the Middle East and Africa.
