More than 120kg of fuel oil has been scrapped off the beaches of Gran Canaria as authorities struggle to contain the spill from a Russian fishing boat which sank off the coast one week ago.

The Oleg Naydenov was carrying 1,400 tonnes of fuel oil when it sank, and it is currently leaking 5-10 litres of fuel an hour.
