An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 has struck the Vrancea region of Romania.

The tremor which reportedly lasted for more than 30 seconds was felt strongly in the capital Bucharest and several other parts of the country.

The authorities say there are no victims or significant damage.

People also felt the quake in Moldova, Bulgaria and parts of Ukraine.

It’s one of the strongest earthquakes Romania has experienced in recent years.

In 1977 a tremor measuring 7.2 killed more than 1,500 people.
