Video. Heavy rainfall causes flooding across France’s Brittany as region remains on flood alert

Aerial images of flooded fields on the outskirts of Malestroit, in Morbihan, one of the four Breton départements placed on flood alert by Météo-France.

In France, the entire region of Brittany is now on flood alert as the threat of further flooding continues following days of heavy rain

Aerial images broadcast by AFPTV showed large areas underwater in the region.

In Quimper, residents of an entire neighborhood are trapped in their homes, and an orange flood alert remains in place for the whole Finistère basin.

On Tuesday a new flood was announced, and another is expected on Wednesday, 28 January.

Authorities urged residents in affected areas to remain cautious and follow safety instructions as conditions continue to evolve.
