Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen met Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen during her visit to the island on Friday.
Frederiksen flew to Nuuk from Brussels, where she attended a summit of European Union leaders and met with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte.
After landing at Nuuk airport, Frederiksen was greeted by Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen, who gave her a hug.
Nielsen said Rutte had delivered the message that Greenland is willing to do more and host a NATO mission.
Trump, who has repeatedly argued that the US needed Greenland to counter threats from Russia and China, on Wednesday abruptly scrapped the tariffs he had threatened to impose on eight European nations to press for US control over Greenland.
