Much of Gaza City has now been reduced to collapsed housing, and workers are having to dig by hand because heavy machinery is restricted from entering the territory. Families wait nearby, unable to bury their relatives.
At the same time, Gaza faces a growing environmental crisis. The blockade has prevented sanitation teams from reaching main waste disposal sites in the east.
With nowhere else to dump rubbish, the municipality created a temporary landfill inside the city.
The waste has built up near homes, releasing toxic gases and attracting insects. Residents say the smell and health risks make daily life even harder.
