Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv on Thursday morning, where a Russian missile strike on Tuesday killed 28 people and injured 142.

One of the deadliest missile strikes in recent months hit Kyiv late on 17 June, destroying a residential building and killing at least 28 people.

The high-explosive missile levelled an entire section of a nine-storey block in the Solomianskyi district, from basement to rooftop. Dozens were injured, and more than 140 people across the city were affected as missiles and drones struck multiple areas, damaging homes, schools, and nurseries.

Rescue teams worked for over 39 hours, pulling survivors from the rubble before efforts turned to recovery.

On 19 June, President Zelenskyy visited the site, meeting emergency crews and pledging support. He thanked Ukraine’s partners for their continued support and urged them to increase pressure so Russia “feels the real cost of the war.”
