Russia struck Kyiv and Odesa with waves of drones and missiles early Tuesday, in what Ukraine's president called one of the war’s most intense attacks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said over 315 Iranian-made Shahed drones and seven missiles were fired, accusing Moscow of escalating violence while global efforts for peace remain ineffective.

At least one person was killed in Kyiv’s Obolon district, and dozens took shelter in metro stations as explosions rang out for hours.

The attack comes just days after Ukraine’s drone strike on Russian airbases, with officials warning of further escalation.

Thick smoke was seen over Kyiv as defences intercepted several incoming threats.
