Video. At least 27 killed near Gaza aid site in third incident this week

Updated:

At least 27 people were killed on Tuesday after Israeli forces opened fire near an aid distribution point in Rafah, according to Palestinian health officials.

Witnesses say the victims had been walking toward food distribution sites when gunfire erupted for a third time in three days.

The Israeli military said it fired near individuals who strayed from designated routes and ignored warnings.

The United Nations has rejected the new aid system, saying it doesn't address Gaza's mounting hunger crisis and allows Israel to use aid as a weapon.

The Gaza Health Ministry said most victims suffered gunshot wounds.
