Leaders from the EU and Central Asia met in Samarkand to enhance economic and political ties, as the region pivots towards Europe in light of shifting geopolitical dynamics.

A first-time summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, brings together leaders from the EU and Central Asia to discuss strengthening cooperation, regional stability, and deeper economic and political ties.

Following years of reforms and European assistance, the five Central Asian countries are embarking on a strategic pivot towards Europe, while the EU is seeking reliable partners in the current, rapidly changing geopolitical realities.

Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the host of the summit, called this summit “truly historic” and a “historic chance” for the region.
