Protests erupted in Romania’s capital Bucharest on Sunday after the electoral body rejected ultranationalist Calin Georgescu’s candidacy for the country’s presidential election rerun.
Georgescu, 62, won last year’s first round before the election was annulled over alleged Russian interference.
The rejection of his bid sparked outrage, with hundreds of supporters gathering outside the Central Election Bureau's headquarters, chanting, throwing objects, and setting a bush on fire.
The first round of the presidential election rerun is scheduled for May 4.
