As part of a conservation programme run by Spain's Ministry for Ecological Transition, 22 loggerhead turtles were released on the beach of Almassora, Spain.

The loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) is a vulnerable species who has been forced to change its nesting habits due to climate change.

Programmes like Life Intemares are working to improve the chances of survival for these turtles, as only one in a thousand makes it to adulthood.

After spending a year in the Oceanogràfic of Valencia's tanks, the turtles are released into the sea.

This centre also cares for newborns and acts as a hospital for sick or injured turtles, including those with amputations or shell fractures.
