The Italian President led a solemn celebration of the 78th anniversary of Italy’s liberation on April 25th 1945.
Sergio Mattarella saluted the national flag as military bands played at the Altare della Patria, the tomb of the unknown soldier, in Rome.
The Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni marked the anniversary by calling for unity among all political factions, marking the date with an open letter to a national newspaper.
