MILAN -Italy's antitrust authority said on Monday it had fined the retail unit of energy firm Edison 3.8 million euros ($3.89 million) for alleged unfair commercial practices.

According to the authority, Edison Energia has been promoting and selling power and gas supply services since March 2022 without disclosing in full the economic conditions of its offers.

Italian energy firm Edison, which has been owned by France's energy giant EDF since 2012, produces and distributes electricity from traditional and renewable sources.

In a statement in response to the watchdog ruling, Edison Energia rejected the allegations, saying it had always complied with existing legislation over consumers rights.
