Belgian security forces reportedly arrested a suspect on Friday night outside the Israeli embassy in Brussels, according to a post on X by the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

It said the suspect was in possession of a Molotov cocktail, but gave no further details.

The post added that "all of Israel’s embassy staff are safe."

Belgian police has not yet confirmed the arrest, or given details about the intentions of the suspect.

In July, police in Denmark's capital Copenhagen said they were examining a suspicious package that was sent to the Israeli Embassy.

In February, a suspect was also arrested in Berlin who was thought to be planning a "politically motivated" attack on the Israeli embassy there.

German prosecutors announced terrorism charges against the suspect in August, adding that he intended to join the so-called Islamic State (IS) group in Pakistan.

It is not known if the suspect in Belgium was planning a similar attack.
