Earlier this week, the European Commission revealed its highly anticipated penalties against US tech giants Apple and Meta. Will this decision worsen the already deteriorating EU US relations?

This week, the European Commission imposed fines on US digital giants Meta and Apple in the midst of a trade war with the US.

The anticipated penalties are the first to be issued under the bloc’s Digital Markets Act. However, the Trump administration has criticised the decision, arguing it represents unfair targeting of American companies.
