Ukraine's military launched a precision strike at a Russian command post in Maryino in the Kursk region on Thursday, local media reported.

Ukraine's General Staff said "these attacks are primarily carried out to weaken Russia's ability and willingness to carry out terrorist acts against Ukrainian civilians," adding that necessary measures were taken to minimise harm to civilians in its nearby surroundings.

Kyiv also downed two Russian helicopters and damaged another in a sea drone attack, Ukraine's military intelligence agency said on its Telegram channel. Euronews was unable to verify these claims.

Meanwhile, Russian forces launched a ballistic missile attack on the outskirts of the city of Chernihiv. Ukraine's Air Force had previously warned of an incoming ballistic missile attack on the city.

The region's Governor Vyacheslav Chaus reported the strike killed at least one person and injured four others.

Local media reported that additional attacks also took place in the Kherson, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. At least four were killed and six injured after Russia launched dozens of drones, including Iranian-designed Shahed drones, overnight.

Russian strikes also targeted Ukraine's Kharkiv region, though local authorities said local infrastructure was damaged but no civilians were injured.
