Edgar Barrera leads the 2026 Latin Grammys with ten nominations

The Latin Recording Academy on Wednesday released the full list of nominees for the 2026 Latin Grammys, and one name comes up more than any other: Edgar Barrera.

The Mexican songwriter has racked up ten nominations, most of them tied to work he did for Karol G and Carín León, and he appears in all three of the night’s general categories: Record, Album and Song of the Year. The ceremony, the 27th edition of the awards, will be held on 12 November at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Behind Barrera is a tight group with seven nominations apiece: Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso, Jorge Drexler, Karol G and Rosalía. Silvana Estrada and Mon Laferte follow on six, and the Argentine producers Rafa Arcaute and Federico Vindver have five nominations each.

They are, to a large extent, the names that have shaped the Spanish-language music conversation over the past year: from LUX, by Rosalía, recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra and sung in thirteen different languages, to Rawayana’s album, which in June reached number one in the Billboard ranking of the year’s best Latin albums.

Ten albums compete for Album of the Year

The flagship category brings together ten releases that differ markedly from one another: "EQUILIBRIVM", by Anitta; "Free Spirits", by Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso; "Taracá", by Jorge Drexler; "Vendrán suaves lluvias", by Silvana Estrada; "Tropicoqueta", by Karol G; "Femme Fatale", by Mon Laferte; "Muda", by Carín León; "La vida era más corta", by Milo J; "¿Dónde es el after?", by Rawayana; and "LUX" by Rosalía.

The Record of the Year line-up features "¿Cómo se ama?", by Jorge Drexler; "Dime", by Silvana Estrada; "Coleccionando heridas", by Karol G with Marco Antonio Solís; "Femme Fatale", by Mon Laferte; "Desde que te tengo", by Carín León; "La Perla", by Rosalía with Yahritza y su Esencia; and "Alma", by Elena Rose.

The Song of the Year shortlist, the award that honours songwriters, includes ten tracks, among them "Hasta Jesús tuvo un mal día", by Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso featuring Sting, and "Mi gran amor", by Santana with Becky G. Also in the running are "Humano", by Juanes and Vivir Quintana, and "Nilo", by Zanna, alongside the already mentioned songs by Drexler, Estrada, Laferte, Karol G and Rosalía.

The Best New Artist category arrives without any obvious favourite: a group of eleven acts are competing, Delilah, Fabian, Loulu Gilberto, Arath Herce, Macario Martínez, Maye, Sofía Monroy, Kendall Peña, Dora Sánchez, Aria Vega and Zeca Veloso, who have yet to break into the awards’ general categories.
