Pop artist Keith Haring began his career covering New York City's subways with his instantly recognisables designs. Now 140 of his artworks are on display at an exhibition in Rome.
The exhibition includes early works when he first began creating art in New York, to sculptures, paintings and art that reflects his activism. Among the work on show are the famous ‘Subway Drawings’ that kicked off Haring's career when he drew with chalk on New York subway panels.
There are also the iconic panels he painted with spray paint in 1984 along Manhattan’s FDR Drive, as well as his monumental 'Altarpiece: Life of Christ', a triptych altarpiece made during the final year of his life.
‘Keith Haring: Retrospect’ runs until 11 April 2027 at the Museo di Roma at Palazzo Braschi.
