Elina Valtonen, Finland’s Foreign Minister, said the AfD’s win cannot be attributed solely to “disinformation”, as that would be “totally unwise and untrue”. But she believes Russian disinformation campaigns have helped to take “dissatisfaction in society and amplify it to drive people against each other”.

At the same time, she insists that “there are true concerns of people behind the result” and that it is “important to respect” the democratic victory seen in the German regional elections in Saxony-Anhalt.
