The former Tottenham and Manchester United midfielder went down on the pitch in Odense, Denmark’s third-largest city. According to reports, he remains conscious, and the match has been abandoned

Christian Eriksen was conscious after collapsing again on the field while playing for Denmark’s national team, the country’s football federation said on Sunday.

Television footage showed the 34-year-old clutching his chest with both hands in the 65th minute of Denmark’s international friendly against Ukraine at Nature Energy Park in Odense.

Moments later, Eriksen was seen lying on the ground as players gathered around him.

The match was subsequently abandoned.

“Christian Eriksen is conscious and, under the circumstances, doing well,” the federation said in a post on X.

“The match has been called off.”

Eriksen previously suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s opening group-stage match against Finland at the European Championship in 2021 in Copenhagen. He received extensive medical treatment on the pitch before regaining consciousness.
