With a balance of around $21.8 billion in his account, Takalo ranks among the world's super rich, but he has been unable to access his money for nearly a month.
The bank accounts of a 32-year-old man named Ahmad Jahangard Takalo from Van, eastern Turkey, have been put under review after around 1 trillion lira suddenly appeared without explanation.
Takalo’s account showed a balance of roughly $21.8 billion with the shock deposit included - a sum that would place him among the world’s richest people. However, because of a block imposed by the bank, Takalo has been unable to access his accounts for about a month.
According to NTV, Takalo, who was born in Azerbaijan and who has been living in Turkey for about 10 years, went to his bank branch to find out what was happening after he was unable to pay with his bank card during a supermarket shop.
An examination of his accounts reportedly showed an available balance of 999 billion 999 million 999 thousand 999 lira and 99 kuruş in his account.
Takalo said he had no information about how the money in question had ended up there. Due to the extraordinary circumstance, his accounts were frozen and placed under investigation.
Speaking to NTV, Takalo said he had requested information from the bank but that he had not been given a detailed explanation because the review was still ongoing.
He added that he had even asked artificial intelligence about his situation, and that the replies suggested a budget of this size could be used to carry out major infrastructure projects or to purchase substantial quantities of gold.
